Injury update: Ángel di María continues his recovery process in hopes of being ready for Sunday’s World Cup final. A strained right thigh was responsible for his first half substitution in Saturday’s semi-final against the Netherlands.
Di María took part in light training exercises on Thursday, and a team spokesman estimated the player was practicing at a rate of 60% to 80%. Ángel continued specific recovery work on Friday.
Ángel’s agent, Eugenio López, reportedly told radio station FM Delta that the player underwent stem cell therapy to accelerate his recovery and is doing everything in his power to play on Sunday. According to the AFA, Ángel will continue being monitored on a daily basis.
